The Appraisal Apprenticeship Program

About Appraisal Apprenticeship Program
On April 24, 2024, John Ladd, the Secretary, approved the launch of a new appraisal apprenticeship program, marking it as the first public initiative of its kind in the country. This two-year program will focus on various aspects of land usage, including rural and urban appraising, with a special emphasis on farmland, easements, rights of way and land mix appraisals.
The program aims to create career opportunities and address critical workforce shortages in the government sector, across county, city, state, and federal agencies.

Goals and Objectives
The primary goal of the 10K MA/1890 Workforce Development Program is to help close the wealth gap by using accurate appraisals and valuations grounded in modern data science valuation techniques. Focusing on rural and urban communities, the program incorporates Critical Hope Theory to foster support for long-term success. It also aims to increase the number of qualified appraisers by providing structured education and emphasizing evidence-based, data-driven analysis
Partnerships and Future Plans
The program will initially collaborate with multiple federal agencies and organizations, including the USDA Forest Service, USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service, USDA Policy Center, USDA Rural Development, USDA Office for Civil Rights Enforcement, RedBib, Edelen Renewables, Southern Risk Management Education Center, Federation of Southern Co-Ops, and Oklahoma Black Research for Small Farmers. The emphasis is on establishing a sustainable succession plan to address the retiring workforce and maintain continuous, up-to-date appraisals.

Online Courses
At 10K MA, we are committed to guiding aspiring appraisers from education to licensure. While we work toward establishing our own appraisal school, we currently support students by connecting them with trusted programs and providing mentorship at every stage. Students gain hands-on experience through 10K BA, our appraisal management company, and can join our appraiser network upon licensure. Once our school is established, students will train with us directly, ensuring a cohesive and comprehensive learning experience.
We also collaborate with partner organizations to arrange internships for college students. To qualify, they must complete three U.S. Forest Service courses, which provide valuable insight into fieldwork and professional standards.
